The Way

He rose, He reigns, He breathed His Ruach on His own — and the Way goes to the nations

The Verse

I am the way, the truth, and the life.

Yochanan 14:6

The Story

The risen Yeshua did not leave His people to remember Him. He sent them.

On the evening of the day He rose, His followers sat behind locked doors, afraid. He came and stood among them, showed them His hands and His side, and said, As the Father has sent me, even so I send you. Then He breathed on them: Receive the Ruach HaKodesh! The Counsellor He had promised on the night before He died, the Ruach of truth who lives with you and will be in you, was a promise no longer. The prophets had seen it from far off, the covenant written not on stone but on hearts: I will put my laws into their mind; I will also write them on their heart. The Elohim who had dwelt in a tent and in a house now makes His home in His people: My Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him. And before He returned to the Father He gave them their work: Go and make disciples of all nations, teaching them everything He had commanded, and know that I am with you always, even to the end of the age.

What follows is the blessing promised to Abraham finally breaking its banks. Yeshua had called Himself the way, the truth, and the life, and everyone who trusts Him walks that way home to the Father. He never meant it to stay small: I have other sheep which are not of this fold. So the Good News runs outward in widening circles, to His own people and then to every nation, exactly as the Father had said to Abraham long before: All the families of the earth will be blessed through you. The scattering of Babel begins to be healed, not by everyone speaking one language again, but by people of every language becoming one flock with one shepherd.

It costs them, and Yeshua never hid that it would. If the world hates you, you know that it has hated me before it hated you. He sent His own as sheep amongst wolves, to stand before governors and kings for His sake. And He showed what He does with failure. Peter, who had sworn he did not know Him, was asked three times beside the sea whether he loved Him, and sent back to work: Feed my sheep. No one is beyond rescue. The Elohim who calls those who were not His people His children has not changed since He wrestled Jacob in the dark.

And the letters that teach a freed people how to live come from the risen Yeshua Himself. Hitgalut shows Him walking among seven golden lamp stands, the assemblies of His people, and speaking to each one: you left your first love; Be faithful to death, and I will give you the crown of life; Behold, I stand at the door and knock. Every letter carries the same call: He who has an ear, let him hear what the Ruach says to the assemblies. So His people love one another as He loved them, forgive as they have been forgiven, and remain in Him as branches in the vine, for apart from me you can do nothing. Through His blood they have boldness to enter the kodesh place by a new and living way; the curtain torn at the cross stays open. They keep gathering, spurring one another on to love and good works, looking to Yeshua, the author and perfecter of faith, until they look like the Son, who shows them the Father.

This movement has no last page, because it is the movement you are living in. The Story did not end when Yeshua rose; it opened outward to include everyone who would trust Him, in every century and every nation, right down to the hand holding this book. On the night before He died He prayed for you: Not for these only do I pray, but for those also who will believe in me through their word. And He blessed every reader who would never see Him: Blessed are those who have not seen and have believed. The same Ruach He breathed on His own lives in His people now. The same Good News is still running outward. The same Adonai still gives the right to become Elohim's children. You are not reading about a closed past; you are being handed a place in a Story still being told. And it is being carried, as it always has been, towards a promised end, because the Father who began this work has sworn to finish it, and His Son is coming back.
