At the mountain the Father spoke ten words to a people He had just carried out of bondage. Yeshua did not set one of them aside. He carried each one inward, to the heart the word was always after, and then gave one more of His own.
17“Don’t think that I came to destroy the law or the prophets. I didn’t come to destroy, but to fulfil.18For most certainly, I tell you, until heaven and earth pass away, not even one smallest letter or one tiny pen stroke shall in any way pass away from the law, until all things are accomplished.
1Elohim spoke all these words, saying,2“I am YHWH your Elohim, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.
3“You shall have no other gods before me.
10Then Yeshua said to him, “Get behind me, Satan! For it is written, ‘You shall worship Adonai your Elohim, and you shall serve him only.’”
4“You shall not make for yourselves an idol, nor any image of anything that is in the heavens above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth:5you shall not bow yourself down to them, nor serve them, for I, YHWH your Elohim, am a jealous Elohim, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children, on the third and on the fourth generation of those who hate me,6and showing chesed to thousands of those who love me and keep my mitzvot.
23But the hour comes, and now is, when the true worshippers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for the Father seeks such to be his worshippers.24Elohim is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth.”
7“You shall not misuse the name of YHWH your Elohim, for YHWH will not hold him guiltless who misuses his name.
33“Again you have heard that it was said to the ancient ones, ‘You shall not make false vows, but shall perform to Adonai your vows,’34but I tell you, don’t swear at all: neither by heaven, for it is the throne of Elohim;35nor by the earth, for it is the footstool of his feet; nor by Jerusalem, for it is the city of the great King.36Neither shall you swear by your head, for you can’t make one hair white or black.37But let your ‘Yes’ be ‘Yes’ and your ‘No’ be ‘No.’ Whatever is more than these is of the evil one.
8“Remember the Shabbat day, to keep it kodesh.9You shall labour six days, and do all your work,10but the seventh day is a Shabbat to YHWH your Elohim. You shall not do any work in it, you, nor your son, nor your daughter, your male servant, nor your female servant, nor your livestock, nor your stranger who is within your gates;11for in six days YHWH made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested the seventh day; therefore YHWH blessed the Shabbat day, and made it kodesh.
8For the Ben Adam is Adonai of the Shabbat.”
12“Honour your father and your mother, that your days may be long in the land which YHWH your Elohim gives you.
4For Elohim commanded, ‘Honour your father and your mother,’ and, ‘He who speaks evil of father or mother, let him be put to death.’5But you say, ‘Whoever may tell his father or his mother, “Whatever help you might otherwise have gotten from me is a gift devoted to Elohim,”6he shall not honour his father or mother.’ You have made the mitzvah of Elohim void because of your tradition.
13“You shall not murder.
21“You have heard that it was said to the ancient ones, ‘You shall not murder;’ and ‘Whoever murders will be in danger of the judgement.’22But I tell you that everyone who is angry with his brother without a cause will be in danger of the judgement. Whoever says to his brother, ‘Raca!’ will be in danger of the council. Whoever says, ‘You fool!’ will be in danger of the fire of Gehenna.
14“You shall not commit adultery.
27“You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall not commit adultery;’28but I tell you that everyone who gazes at a woman to lust after her has committed adultery with her already in his heart.
15“You shall not steal.
40If anyone sues you to take away your coat, let him have your cloak also.41Whoever compels you to go one mile, go with him two.42Give to him who asks you, and don’t turn away him who desires to borrow from you.
16“You shall not give false testimony against your neighbour.
36I tell you that every idle word that men speak, they will give account of it in the day of judgement.37For by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned.”
17“You shall not covet your neighbour’s house. You shall not covet your neighbour’s wife, nor his male servant, nor his female servant, nor his ox, nor his donkey, nor anything that is your neighbour’s.”
19“Don’t lay up treasures for yourselves on the earth, where moth and rust consume, and where thieves break through and steal;20but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust consume, and where thieves don’t break through and steal;21for where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
37Yeshua said to him, “‘You shall love Adonai your Elohim with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’38This is the first and great mitzvah.39A second likewise is this, ‘You shall love your neighbour as yourself.’40The whole law and the prophets depend on these two mitzvot.”
34A new mitzvah I give to you, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also love one another.35By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”
